Valero Starts Cat Cracker at Paulsboro, New Jersey, Refinery

Nov. 6, 2008 (Bloomberg) — Valero Energy Corp., the largest U.S.
refiner, started a gasoline-producing fluid catalytic cracker at
the Paulsboro, New Jersey, refinery.
The unit, which can process 55,000 barrels a day, was shut
after a leak of slurry oil Oct. 30. The unit is in the process
of returning to planned rates, Bill Day, a Valero spokesman,
said in an e-mail.
The Paulsboro plant, one of two Valero refineries on the
U.S. East Coast, can process 166,000 barrels of oil a day, U.S.
Energy Department data show.
