Here is update on the expansion of Sinopec Yangzi Coking Refinery/Petchem (not to be confused with the YangZe coking refinery – both in Nanjing). The plans are still for ~56% increase by shutting down the smaller 3.5 MM mtpy crude unit & adding an new 8-9MM mtpy new one to raise total crude capacity to 12.5MM mtpy.
The plant has two coking units an older 1.6 MM mtpy (200 Kmtpy coker charge) and 4 MM mpty (400 Kmtpy) coker commissioned in ~Mar 2005. Both are Anode/Fuel type petcoke and produce total of ~624 kmtpy petcoke. This update indicates the smaller one will also be shutdown and replaced with larger coker (previous news indicated a third unit would be added).
