This is nice update on Motiva Expansion & DCU Construction – has link to thumbnail construction shot of Coke Drums & tower lifting into place (coke drums arrived back Nov 2008). Looks like they are on schedule for completion, the project broke ground in 2007 and then had delay in timing with target completion moved in Mar 2009 to 1Q 2012 due poor economics. The Coker Technology license was signed with COP in 2006 for the 95 MBD unit that is ~2X existing coker.
Background = Old timers will remember this refinery as Star Refinery one first JV with Saudi Aramco & Texaco in 1989 which became part Motiva in 1998. When Texaco was purchased by Chevron in 2002, it had sell its interest in Motiva to Shell.
