Here is update on the Restart units at Formosa Petchem after July 2010 fire (& multiples afterward including Oct coker fire) that took out 1/3 crude capacity, Resid FCC (RFCC) & Naphtha Cracker out service since July ….. but it doesn’t mention the 36MBD coking unit (~1999 ABB-Lummus Tech) in this article.
It also does not mention the expansion project (last Formosa Project Update 2Q2010 PDF) that was to complete in 2012 but has been delayed to 3Q2013. Where plant capacity to be expanded from 540-590MBD crude to 4th crude unit with +100-150MBD and that also has Phase 2 new coker addition/expansion from 36MBD to 65MBD.
Even with expansion it remains behind rival CPC which has 720MBD capacity. The Formosa/Milano Refinery exports nearly 50-60% of its products into Asia region.
