This has talked about at coking.com conferences in the past and deltavalve have done studies on single feed versus double feed with Stress Engineering. Probably a good idea to contact the Deltavalve guys at their R&D department in Salt Lake City or the Stress Eng guys in Houston and they could give more info. Delta has talked about a new center feed idea at the last conference too, and it seems like it might be a good way to go.
