Processing of gas oil and residual feeds from Light Tight Oils and unconventional Canadian crudes at Fluid Catalytic Cracker Units can add significant costs and reduce reliability. The use of enhanced monitoring, advanced diagnostic technology, and chemical additives can improve reliability, process optimization, TAR planning, as well as feedstock and product flexibility.

This presentation will discuss diagnostic inspection techniques that coupled with laboratory analysis and software simulation can identify and evaluate solutions to suboptimum cracking, catalyst losses, and fractionator limitations when processing feeds from Light Tight Oils and unconventional Canadian crudes at FCC Units.
